The Sense and Avoid (SAA) goal is to replace the function of the pilot on the UAV in “visually” detecting other aircraft in the local air space within its flight path and maneuver safely away from them.

DRA has developed and continues to mature SAA technology to help reach the UAV’s applicable level of safety required to operate within the National Airspace System.

  • Provides UAVs with an on-board, EO-based “look ahead” capability to scan, detect, track, and alarm on possible collisions within the forward air space
  • Designed for Group 3 – 5 UAVs (Army RQ-7 Shadow, Air Force RQ-4 Global Hawk)
